AzerbaijanAzerbaijan's President Aliyev addresses landmine issue
President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan made statements regarding the ongoing problem of landmines in the country.
Background
Azerbaijan has a significant landmine problem, largely a legacy of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War (1988-1994) and the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War (2020) with Armenia. These unexploded ordinances pose a continuing threat to civilians and hinder reconstruction efforts in affected areas.
