Russia requests extradition of ICC officials from the Netherlands
Russia has formally asked the Netherlands to hand over nine International Criminal Court (ICC) officials who were convicted in absentia by Russia last year.
Background
Russia does not recognize the International Criminal Court's jurisdiction. This request follows the ICC's arrest warrants for Russian officials, which Russia considers illegal. The Netherlands hosts the ICC and has a legal obligation to cooperate with the court.
